Synthetic Grass for our Golfers

Synthetic or artificial grass has come a long way to cater for almost all golfing needs. The era of fibre grass driving and chipping mats are gone. The new generation synthetic grass can now be used for driving mats, chipping, putting, enabling you to practice your golf skills. The density of the grass allow you to play a full shot, forcing you to follow through with your swing.

Turfscape Putting Greens:

We currently supply two types of artificial grass types suitable as surfaces for putting greens.

The Advance Putting Green

10mm pile height, nylon yarn and stimpmeter reading of 10. The advance putting green requires no sand to increase or decrease the stimpspeed.

The Oval Putting Green

10mm pile height, polyethylene yarn and stimpmeter reading of 7 - 9 depending on the quantity of sand added to the profile. The stimpspeed is increased by adding more sand in between the grass blades. The Oval grass is also used as synthetic surface for cricket pitches. Combine the Oval and you can practice golf and cricket on the same pitch or green.

Basic Base Requirements and Construction

The base construction is the most important part of constructing a putting green. During this phase all aspects of drainage and sloping should be taken into consideration. All our putting greens are constructed with a slope to allow the run off surface water to drain towards the lowest point of the green. However, large putting greens will need a subsoil drainage system.

synthetic grassThe first step is to remove the natural grass, if any, with a sod cutter or else manually with spades etc. These sods can be re planted in your garden or removed from site.

synthetic grassThe base will then be excavated to a depth of 100 - 200 mm depending on the adjacent boundary's levels.

synthetic grassGeosynthetic materials is laid between the base materials and existing soil. Back fill with a G5 filling or suitable aggregates will follow. The G5 is compacted to form a solid foundation for the top layer.

synthetic grassThe top layer consist of compacted crusher sand or small size aggregates mixed with fines. Contours and Undulations will be incorporated into the green at this phase. Our clients have the option of testing the undulations before positioning of the cups.
